NEW YORK, NY, September 8, 2014 (Marketwired) -- Piksel, a global provider of video monetization software and solutions, will demonstrate an enhanced version of its second screen framework, 2Si, at IBC 2014, featuring all-new interactivity features from partner Ex Machina’s PlayToTV.

Piksel & Ex Machina partner for second screen interactivityPiksel’s long history in creating compelling user-centric experiences has resulted in the partnership with Ex Machina to deliver to content owners, aggregators, and distributors the best second screen experience possible, managed all from one place. Through its unique modular Piksel Palette SOA (services-oriented architecture) framework, 2Si also allows customers to select the specific second screen features that link to their existing OTT frameworks, rather than offering a stand alone out-of-the-box solution.

Miles Weaver, Innovation Programme Strategist, Piksel, explained: “We see over and over again that meaningful and integrated interactivity is a key reason for people to want to use their second screen. Interactivity boosts conversion from TV to online and results in true engagement. Working with Ex Machina, the hottest second screen interactivity business in the industry, allows us to capitalize on its expertise to create a deeper and fulfilling second screen experience for the viewers and a best of breed solution for our customers.”

2Si will combine the key elements of social, programming, recommendations, VoD, advertising for monetization and now interactivity into one very flexible, modular, white-label solution.

Jeroen Elfferich, Ex Machina’s co-founder and CEO, adds, “We’re thrilled to have PlayToTV providing the core interactive technology for Piksel’s second screen product. We’ve invested greatly into understanding patterns of viewer engagement, and hope that through this collaboration we can make the second screen experience even more compelling – for users, TV companies and advertisers alike.”

The new elements of 2Si include:

  • Easy second screen integration of interactive elements such as trivia questions, predictions, ratings, and polls
  • Ability to schedule interactive elements at specific times or deploy on-the-fly in a live setting
  • On-screen call to actions to encourage user engagement and increase stickiness
  • Social elements allowing users to see which of their Facebook friends are playing along, their scores, and the ability to chat with them from within the app

See 2Si’s new interactivity capabilities at Piksel’s IBC booth, 1.C30.
